Technical FAQ | Anti-Corrosion Heat-Shrinkable Tape: Core Technology, Applications & Installation Advantages

In pipeline corrosion-protection projects, selecting a material that can withstand demanding environmental conditions is essential to extending pipeline service life. To help customers better understand our product advantages and suitable applications, we have prepared this FAQ covering the core technology and key performance features of our products.

Q1: What are the core materials and manufacturing structure of the product?

A: Our products are primarily composed of a polyethylene (PE) backing laminated with EVA hot-melt adhesive.

Outer Backing: Premium polyethylene is used as the main raw material and compounded with light stabilizers, antioxidants, tackifying resins, and polar materials to provide strong aging resistance and mechanical protection.

Inner Hot-Melt Adhesive: High-performance EVA is the primary raw material. For applications with special high- or low-temperature requirements, our technical team can develop a dedicated customized adhesive formulation.

Q2: What are the main quality advantages compared with similar products on the market?

A: Our products compete on dependable quality, with three key installation advantages:

Strong Bonding and High Peel Strength: The composite layer forms a very strong chemical and physical bond with the pipeline substrate, helping resist severe soil stress and mechanical damage.

Excellent Conformability with No Edge Lifting: The product addresses the common problem of inferior materials lifting or opening after installation, helping maintain a dense and durable anti-corrosion barrier.

Excellent Temperature Adaptability: The product has a high softening point and remains stable without adhesive flow at elevated temperatures. It also offers strong low-temperature installation performance, maintaining flexibility and bonding even in severe cold without becoming brittle or cracking.

Q3: What types of pipeline projects are these products mainly used for?

A: Thanks to their excellent corrosion-protection and sealing performance, our heat-shrinkable tapes and sleeves are widely used in three major applications: long-distance gas pipelines, pre-insulated heating pipelines, and water supply/drainage pipelines.

Q4: Bonding conditions on long-distance gas pipelines can be very complex. How does the product perform?

A: It performs extremely well. Long-distance gas pipelines present some of the most complex bonding substrates, but our high-adhesion hot-melt adhesive can bond to multiple materials, including steel, polyethylene (PE) outer coatings, residual solvents from coating layers, and dedicated anti-corrosion primers. This creates a dense, continuous seal that helps prevent moisture and corrosive media from entering.

Q5: What are the installation characteristics for pre-insulated heating and water supply/drainage pipelines?

A: In these applications, the bonding structure is relatively simple and generally requires adhesion only to the polyethylene (PE) outer layer. The excellent compatibility between the PE backing and EVA hot-melt adhesive, combined with high peel strength, makes installation fast and efficient while creating a tight, seamless-type seal between pipe components.

šŸ’” Conclusion:

Whether you are installing in extremely cold regions or working with complex long-distance pipeline substrates, we are committed to providing high-strength, reliable pipeline corrosion-protection solutions that resist edge lifting.
